400 - 300 BC. A black-glazed kylix with a shallow bowl on a low ring foot and a pair of horizontal loop handles set at the sides. The underside bears a reserved tondo with concentric circles. Real Gorgon Terracotta Decoration
A fine, Ancient Greek, terracotta Gorgoneion fitting. The face is molded to depict the gorgon with her wide mouth stretched in a grin with two long tusks protruding above and below, and her tongue thrust out. The figure’s cheeks are puffed out, and the forehead is partly covered with a fringe of tight curls. The British Museum has an almost exact piece that was used as a decoration on a coffin. What a scary thing to put on a coffin of a loved one! Remember, Medusa was a Gorgon. Yikes!

1200 - 900 BC. A bronze axe head with a cylindrical shaft set transverse to the blade. The body tapers forward to a broad convex edge. The butt forms an openwork extension with a lateral loop and a cast ring, with a molded collar around the shaft hole. Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Switzerland; formerly with W.R. , late 1980s to early 1990s.
